IF THIS, THEN DOMINOS.
Domino’s paired up with IFTTT (If This Then That) to create infinite ways you can order Domino’s Pizza. Is it raining and you don’t want to leave the house? Did you lose power? Was your fridge left open and now all your food is spoiled for the night? Did your plane just touch down after a long work trip? Now literally anything in your life can order you pizza, automagically. And you don’t have to lift a finger (except for set-up :) ).
We brainstormed, tested, and set up 100+ IFTTT recipes that resulted in a Domino’s Pizza Easy Order being placed. From there, we took about 42 applet concepts to Legwork Studios and created a killer campaign web hub. With CPB’s creative direction, Legwork created unique animations throughout the site, ranging from an informative intro to explain what IFTTT is and how it works with Domino’s, to unique card flipping animations, and an awesome, interactive infinite scroll as the site’s homepage. Page transitions, subtle side-menu animation, and even a profanity filter helped make this a kick-ass website.
We worked with Legwork’s illustration and animation teams to create a dynamic, informative introduction to the site (IFTTT isn't super easy to understand, off the bat, let alone how it integrates with the Dom's app). Legwork used cel animation for the introduction.
For the homepage, we really wanted to encourage users to both envision the vast possibilities for IFTTT + Domino’s integrations, as well as to just explore the fun applets we had already created for them. So, we created a grid-based interface that has a unique illustration for each IFTTT + Domino’s integration, or “recipe” as IFTTT calls it.
Accounting for uneven grid item counts, different screen sizes, and different drag directions on an infinite grid while maintaining smooth browser performance was a challenge, but the guys at Legwork crushed it. In the end, we came up with a mod-based solution to clone grid items and get a predictable amount since the number of integrations changed throughout the build.
