MADE FOR THE FUTURE. BORN IN JAPAN.

For INFINITI’s installation at the 2018 Concours d'Elegance, we wanted to bring INFINTI’s heritage to the forefront of the conversation. We envisioned the beautiful pavilion space and the car itself as a canvas on which we would tell the larger story of Infiniti's Japanese roots and how those sentiments still impact their ethos.

We worked with GMUNKVT Pro Design and the Tool of North America to create a show-stopping projection mapping experience at the Pebble Beach pavilion. The INFINITI QX50 car was a canvas for Japanese-inspired imagery conceived by the ingenious artist that is GMUNK and his dream team of designers, animators, and technicians. The design of the car already had an elegant movement built in, which allowed the eye to move across the form in a dynamic way. ”The design team created illusions, playing with depth and surrealism to interpret the design of the car in an unexpected way — revealing what stirs beneath the hood, the hybrid nature of its development, and the minds that brought it there – taking the car to a new place entirely.”

We worked hard to make an undulating evolution between Classic Japanese Art, Intelligent Data, and Future Forward progressions with moving dots and pixels that made up the patterns found organically in Japan — rain, fog, mountains, cherry blossoms, and water. The collision of nature, fantasy, and culture created an emotional world for viewers in the pavilion. The projections swept across the lateral side and top of the QX50, as well as onto the wall behind, powered by three 20,000 Lumen 4K projectors.

We focused on three main features of the QX60 - the Pro Pilot Assist technology, it's Japanese Bold Design, and it's powerful, VC Turbo Engine.
