BEYOND I DO

Beyond I Do is an informative, integrated campaign that highlights, explains, and humanizes the ongoing, legal discrimination against LGBTQ+ couples in our world, today.

We found and spoke with American families, couples, or individuals - all of whom lived in the 31 states where it is still legal* to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace, in public services, and in housing. We showcased their stories through broadcast, social and online media, as well as through a carefully strategized and designed interactive website. We recorded their voices, helped put their stories to paper, and - most of all - honored their bravery and help in the fight to bring awareness to (and hopefully end) modern-day LGBTQ+ injustice.

*As of April, 2018.

We worked with Nick Offerman for the TV and radio portions of this campaign. As a fellow American who is open and vocal about his stance on human rights, he was the perfect spokesperson; he brought additional authority and unity to our message, and did so with genuine support and concern.

Our website was highly interactive, highlighting stories from the 31 states (as of April, 2018) in which discrimination against the LGBT+ community is still legal.

We spent months reaching out to families and individuals across the nation.

With their approval, we transcribed their stories and dropped them into our website alongside state-by-state statistics, laws, and lacked protections in order to strike a balance between cold facts and humanity. 5 states also include audio stories which we produced with an in-person audio team that traveled to Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, Ohio and Virginia to record and interview the individuals, themselves.

We included a FAQ to allow visitors to educate themselves further on LGBT+ terms. We also created a share card generator that offered the opportunity to spread the word about state-specific LGBT+ issues on social platforms.
